Luca's Dreams
Luca is a dreamer by nature—curious, creative, and wise beyond his years. Though still a child, he carries the memories of a thousand past lives, which give him a unique way of seeing the world. He wears a special cloak woven from threads of forgotten stories and silent wishes, allowing him to travel between dreams. Fearless and imaginative, Luca embraces the unknown, collecting each dream like a treasure from a world yet to be discovered.
This illustration explores a dreamlike atmosphere through vibrant colors, playful compositions, and an abundance of small narrative details. The use of layered textures and soft lighting creates a surreal forest setting, while rhythmic visual elements—like the curved lines of marching frogs and floating foliage—convey movement and wonder. The scene balances whimsy and stillness, inviting the viewer to slow down and discover hidden moments, much like how Luca travels through his dreams: curiously, gently, and with imagination as his guide.
La Tingua
This illustrated book follows the journey of the tingua, an emblematic bird of the Sabana de Bogotá , with the goal of teaching young readers about the importance of protecting its natural habitat. Through simple narrative and engaging visuals, the story encourages environmental awareness and highlights the role each of us can play in preserving wetlands and the diverse life they support.
The visual approach embraces a rustic, handmade aesthetic, using layered textures and expressive brushstrokes to evoke the feeling of being immersed in a wetland. The palette and compositions were designed to reflect the rich, natural atmosphere of the Sabana de Bogotá, featuring not only the tingua but also other native species that coexist in this fragile ecosystem. The result is a sensory experience that connects children to the landscape through visual storytelling.
El Rey Sabio
For this story about a wise king, I played with textured brushes and simple yet thoughtful compositions. The visual approach aimed to convey calmness and introspection, highlighting the character’s wisdom through expressive, handmade details.
Around the World
This book follows a family traveling the world in a hot air balloon, and I explored whimsical and dreamlike compositions to reflect the magic of the journey. The illustrations aimed to spark imagination and evoke a sense of wonder with every turn of the page.
I created diverse environments inspired by locations across the globe, maintaining a rustic aesthetic with distorted perspectives tailored for a young audience aged 5 to 8. The settings were designed to be playful and immersive, enriching the storytelling experience through texture and charm.
La Chiva
This illustrated book was created with the intention of honoring and sharing the story of the Colombian chiva—an iconic rural bus that, beyond its colorful exterior, has long served as a symbol of connection, movement, and cultural identity across the country.
Through vivid illustrations and an engaging narrative, the book explores the chiva’s origins, its evolution over time, and its essential role as a vehicle that carried food, families, knowledge, and stories between remote towns divided by mountains, rivers, and unpaved roads. The chiva not only transported people and goods, but also voices, traditions, and memories.
Cuentos Populares
I had the privilege of illustrating Cuentos populares y leyendas del mundo para enseñar valores a los niños, published by Babidibú Publisher in Spain.
For this book of classic stories, I aimed to bring versatility to the illustrations, giving each tale its own unique tone and style. This approach highlights the diversity of cultures and values portrayed in the stories, as well as the universal lessons they offer.
Familia Gillis Pulido
An illustrated book created for a very special family — a heartfelt story about two birds who set out on a journey, not to find something, but someone. They weren't searching for perfection, but for a connection — a soul that would make their nest feel whole.
Seasons
An illustrated book series about the seasons, created for Maltese publisher Midsea Books.
Each book captures the essence of a specific season through carefully selected elements and a warm, playful visual style. By building distinct atmospheres for spring, summer, autumn, and winter, the series offers a dynamic and memorable experience that helps young readers recognize and connect with the changing world around them.
April Witch
An illustrated exercise inspired by one of Ray Bradbury’s most magical stories, this project explores the poetic tension between wonder and melancholy that defines much of his work. Through expressive characters, symbolic compositions, and surreal landscapes, the illustration captures the emotional core of Bradbury’s storytelling — where fantasy meets fragility, and where even the most fantastical moments are deeply human. This piece is both a visual homage and a personal interpretation of the quiet magic found in his narratives.
